Already in Mai 2008, a liason agreement between

• ISO TC204
• ETSI TC ITS

was signed. Here is the complete text of the agreement, which clearly confirms that these two standards organizations will not develop competing standards, but complementary standards.

From this the following share of work follows, which is also in line with basics of the cooperation of USA and EU towards joint development of standards for ITS

• ISO TC204 WG16 is responsible for the set of communication standards for ITS (CALM), applicable on an international level
• ETSI TC ITS is responsible for test standards and may develop complementary communication standards to consider specific European neeeds.

Further on, CEN TC278 WG16 and ISO TC 204 WG18 jointly develop application standards for ITS, based on the well established procedures between these two TCs.
